We'll be Jammin'
4th Annual Earth Jam expects big turnout
On Saturday, April 30th, Plymouth State University's Common Ground organization will be hosting their 4th annual Earth Jam Festival.
Earth Jam is intended to be a celebration of the Earth through music and eco-friendly fun. The event is entirely solar powered by a bus with solar panels attached to it.
Common Ground has often prided itself as: "we're not just an organization… we're a movement," and they are living up to that statement as this year's Earth Jam already has 562 attendees on Facebook. The event also has nine performers, including Big Love Monster, Mauce, Histerica!, and reggae, jazz, and rock infused locals Roots of Creation. Music will begin at 12pm and run all day and into the night, concluding around 10pm.
"The goals of the event is to perhaps inspire other organizations to have more events that are environmentally conscious, perhaps using solar power, provide compost buckets, recycle, or reuse materials," said Common Ground President Leeane O'Connor.
Planning of the event is no small task, as O'Connor said the organization began planning in the fall of 2010.
The event will also include many activities for all to enjoy throughout the day such as face paintings, paint wall, capture the flag, sack races, jewelry making, and much more. The festival will welcome a few vendors to the event from 12pm-5pm as well.
Come rain, or come shine, Earth Jam is going to rock PSU this Saturday. For more information please visit Earth Jam's facebook event, "4th Annual Earth Jam" through Common Ground's profile.
