Use the Sidewalks

There is so much emphasis stressed on safety on campus that I would like to bring to light an obvious situation that is a tragedy waiting to occur. Monday morning I was driving up over Russell Street and was met with several students walking WITH the traffic to their first morning class. The problem is..it had snowed the night before and the roads...although they had been treated..were still slick. There are two sidewalks ...one on each side of that road...but not a one of those students were using them. Wake up kids! You're in college now! This winter has left us with alot of snow and the Highway Department has done a tremendous job of keeping up with it, yet...when you can see that the roads are not bare and dry...you can summize that any vehicle..traveling up or down that road may have a difficult time stopping. The sidewalks are made for pedestrians so use your head and use them! Please do your part to make the roads around here safer for both the drivers and the pedestrians.
