Sodexo Sues PSU
As we all remember, Sodexo was an unsatisfying food provider. But little does the Plymouth State community know that our problems with Sodexo are far from over.
On the 20th of December, Sodexo filed a complaint with the U.S. District Court in Concord, New Hampshire. Sodexo claims that Plymouth State University breached the terms of their contract by letting Chartwells hire management employees away from Sodexo.
According to the Sentinel Source the contract stated, “The university system shall not ‘hire, make any agreement with, or permit the employment of, in any operation providing food service, any person who has been a (Sodexo) management employee at the Food Service within the earlier of one (1) year after said employee terminates employment with (Sodexo) or within one (1) year after the termination of the Agreement,’ according to the complaint.”
Sodexo has insisted that PSU owes $600,000, with the rest of the money from the suit coming from the University System of New Hampshire, coming to an amount over 1 million dollars.
At this time, President Birx hasn’t released any official statements to The Clock about the lawsuit. But we are still waiting for a statement from President Birx, the CFO, and the Director of Housing.
Sodexo was aware that Chartwells was looking to hire their employees, The Sentinel Source said, “The complaint states Sodexo worked with Chartwells and the university system to facilitate interviews with Sodexo employees but notes that Sodexo made them aware of the “no-hire” clause for management positions and its implications.” Sodexo seemingly helped facilitate the hiring process.
With that, it does bring up the question of what Sodexo is actually suing Plymouth State over. Is it really about a breach of contract? Or is it retaliation over the loss of the dining contract?
